On Windows 10 , the context menu that appears when you right-click the speaker icon is missing the Sounds option. It allowed users to access the Control Panel sound settings but it is now gone. The sound settings that you can access from the system tray take you to the Settings app where you have basic settings. You can still open the Sound tab in the Settings app from the System Tray. The Sound tab has an option called Sound Control Panel.

Click it, and it will open the Control panel sound settings. The control panel is still there. If you open the app and go to Hardware and Sounds, and click Sounds, you will see the old Sound window complete with the Recording, Playback, Sounds, and Communications tab. It keeps saying there is no compatible hardware installed. I checked the Device Manager only to see that something called PCI Simple Communications Controller I’m assuming that’s the sound card is flagged with yellow exclamation. When I scroll down to Sound it shows Creative X-fi without any issues. Audio is coming out of my speakers a 5.

I figured this might be a problem because W10 isn’t installing the newest driver, for whatever reason. So I downloaded the newest driver from the Creative website and installed it, then I can’t hear anything at all. Interestingly in the Sound Control Panel when I do audio tests the meter indicates that it is producing sounds, but I hear nothing from my speakers keep in mind, after installing the driver the PCI Simple Communications Controller is still flagged.

The only way for me to get audio back is to uninstall the PCI Simple Communications Controller and Creative X-Fi from Device Manager then to restart the computer and allow it to re-acquire the default drivers if I click Scan for New Hardware, my computer blue screens, so restarting is the only way for me to get it reset properly. When I try the speakers on my on-board audio, everything works, it’s only through the sound card.

Keep in mind it was all working perfectly fine right before the upgrade, and I have also tried removing and re-installing the card. I’m curious if anybody else has some possible solutions that I haven’t thought of yet that may work. I’m hoping this just doesn’t mean that I have to buy a new sound card since this one is too old and simply won’t work on W10, since it produces good quality audio I remember having to do quite a bit of fiddling to make it work right on W7, though it worked just fine on W8 and W8.

After reinstalling the driver which made no changes to the way it worked or didn’t I uninstalled the driver and rebooted.

I can get sound out of my system, but installing the official drivers stops sound from working, so I have to allow Windows to acquire generic drivers, which don’t enable any of the advanced features of the sound card such as the Creative Control Panel or the ability to use 5.

In reply to Bobj’s post on August 20, Upon reboot the sound wasn’t working. When I install the drivers the sound works great. After rebooting the sound stops working again. The first work around I found was to reinstall the driver. This is a pain to do every time I have to reboot the computer. I just found out I can go into device manager disable the driver and then enable it and that brings the sound back as well. Not sure what is causing this. Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Not Working Right (Windows 10) – Microsoft Community.Sound Blaster Control Panel

Recently I’ve switched to Windows 10 and I’ve realized that the PAX drivers aren’t yet ready for it, so I had to find a workaround which gave me at least some of the functionality that I’ve wanted. I personally own the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro and it’s been a really great card, even though I still haven’t seen any games that take advantage of its embedded memory. Anyways, let’s skip to the subject: it seems that Creative has finally released some drivers for Windows 10, but unfortunately they were lacking the Console Launcher and the Volume Panel – two things that are essential to me, so I’ve decided to do a little digging around and I’d like to share my results so that I can help you guys.

I’ve made an archive for anyone that has my model with all the needed packages here or here. Just follow the instructions in the SFX window and you’re good to go! For anyone else with a different model, you’ll find your drivers here or here cached copy with the links for all the models – in case you know just your SBXXXX code and not the full name of the card.

The Console Launcher is available here and the Volume Panel is available here the blue download button is just right next to the file size. For the Volume Panel you need to open the. It took me a few hours to find all these so if you’d like to buy me a beer, you can make a donation here.

Someone suggested that you should put your PC to sleep with the settings that you want saved and then resume it and they’ll survive the following restart. Are you using an Insider Preview build? Because those are known to have issues. On my retail W10, the pack is still working correctly. I just had to reinstall the Console and the Panel after a Windows Update.
