Excel seemed to start up faster – but I only checked it briefly. I was more concerned with getting Word to work.

I had used up many hours trying the three suggested “fixes”. I also ran “repair installation” from the installation DVD – which made no difference. My patience had run out. I am NOT an unpaid beta tester for Microsoft. So I uninstalled Office using the recommended “Fix it” – which again tied my computer up for over an hour.
